Baltimore magazine
(Merchants & Manufacturers Association)
(1917-1928)

Monthly Issues of "BALTIMORE" the publication of the MERCHANTS and MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION (January 1917 through May 1924) and THE BALTIMORE ASSOCIATION OF COMMERCE (June 1924 through December 1964) and THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF METROPOLITAN BALTIMORE (January 1965 through December 1973)
BALTIMORE, MARYLAND

The Association was a member of The Chamber of Commerce of the United States. While publication began in 1910, the first issue in the BCPL Library collection is dated "February 1917" and the last dated December 1973 (Many of the earlier issues can be found at the Enoch Pratt Library in Baltimore). The publication was issued monthly but some issues are not in the BCPL collection. The early issues were usually 20 to 30 pages in length and advertisements comprised 25 to 50 % of the content. The issues became larger as time went on and the quality of print and paper both improved. The advertisement content expanded over the years and was at the 50 % level for the last decade. The last issue in the file contains over 60 pages. An excellent history of the City can be extracted from the advertisements.
