Designed by Joseph Sperry in 1907 for Captain Isaac Emerson, the inventor of Bromo Seltzer, this landmark is illuminated at night and clearly seen from both the Orioles and the Ravens stadiums. It was patterned after the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy. Lately the City is having it remodeled for use as artists' studios.

The old Baltimore & Ohio Building was at Lexington and Calvert Streets in Baltimore City. Barnum's Hotel is seen at the middle right distance.
The B&O building was designed in 1884 by Ephraim Francis Baldwin and Josias Pennington. It was lost in the great fire of 1904.

This 1887 photo of the old Sun iron building was copied from a rotogravure article in the Sun (date not known). The building was located at South and Baltimore Streets and was destroyed in the 1904 fire.

The Philipsborn Building at the Southeast corner of Lexington and Liberty Streets in Baltimore City. The company was listed in the 1910 City Directory as manufacturers of ladies' cloaks, suits, skirts and waists. By 1916 the site was being used by the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company's tower.

The Bromo Seltzer Tower at Eutaw & Lombard Streets, designed by Joseph Sperry and built in1907. The design was inspired by the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence and the tower was built for Captain Isaac Emerson, who patented that renowned hangover remedy. The structure was used in the 1970s and 1980s by the Baltimore City Arts Commission and is planned for rehab into artist studios.

The Van Building at14 North Charles Street in Baltimore. The structure has a European chalet design façade reminiscent of Parker, Thomas and Rice's 1912 Hansa Haus. House importers. Next door at 16 N. Charles may be seen William M Lohmeyer, Mens Furnishings and Shirt Makers.
The rather unusual entrance, with show windows on each side, has Art Nouveau design touches reminiscent of the turn of the century architects in Brussels or Barcelona.
