TOPIC: People - Bloede, Victor G. Sr.
Description: Victor Gustav Bloede (1849-1937) was a chemist and an industrialist who resided on Eden Terrace in Catonsville. He formed the Patapsco Electric & Manufacturing Company to provide power to Catonsville and Ellicott City. Both communities were beyond the service area of the Consolidated Gas, Electric Light, and Power Company of Baltimore. Built in 1907, his dam and power generating plant was located near Gray's Mill on the Patapsco River. H. J. von Schon of Detroit and a relative of Charles Wacker and Bloede's neighbor and friend on Eden Terrace was the consulting engineer. Bloede's power plant and dam was sold to Consolidated Gas Electric Light and Power in 1912 or 1913.
